[Artem Maljuga]

"I have to go".

Vera: Bands from Ukraine are more exception than rule and every metal initiative from those areas should be encouraged. But it is discussible whether we have to be glad with S.V.D. The band was formed in 2003 by female singer Svetlana Belyaeva and guitarist Artem Maljuga. They worked their way through many problems and line-up changes and 'I Have To Go' is their first MCD.

S.V.D. plays little fuss-making heavy metal with female vocals. The title track and the ballad 'In Love' are the best songs and guitar skills of both guitarists are quite well, surely the soloing. When Svetlana sings in a common low way, things are alright, but when she raises her voice in a would be soprano style things get rather terrible. Alas, she is doing that a lot of times, so it is no fun to listen to this. Next time better, I suppose.
